LEGO Mon Calamari Star Cruiser
February 28th, 2010
For those of us who watched Return of the Jedi as children, the Battle of Endor was an especially memorable scene. Perhaps the best part was watching the Mon Calamari Star Cruisers face off vs the Death Star and the Imperial Armada. The Home One LEGO Star Wars set #7754 finally allows you to bring your dreams to life in brick form.

The LEGO Star Cruiser is item number 7754 and features almost 800 pieces. How much does LEGO set #7754 cost?
Since LEGO recently raised prices on many of their items in the past year, this LEGO set will set you back about $109.99 and retail price as opposed to $99.99.
As the Rebel Alliance plans their all or nothing gambit against the powerful empire, the LEGO Mon Calamari Star Cruisers form the backbone of the fleet, offering superior fire power compatible with that of a Star Destroyer.
If you remember from the movies, the LEGO Home One Star Cruiser was the flagship of Admiral Ackbar and coordinated the attack run on the second death star. It was also the location where the plans where formed to conduct the attack.

This Star Wars LEGO set features the hologram room, complete with seating and a translucent red LEGO hologram bubble in the middle.
Some of the LEGO Star Wars minifigures that come with this set are rare including that of Admiral Ackbar and a Mon Calimari offer. Other Star Wars LEGO mini figures that come with set #7754 are General Lando Calrissian, General Madine, a Green Squadron A-Wign pilot, and a rebel leader.
Unfortunately this LEGO Mon Calamari Cruiser Star Wars set does not come with General Han Solo or LEGO Luke Skywalker, and even though the minifigures are rare, the set seems a little light with only six figures.
The other section of this Home One LEGO Set is a docking bay from where you can launch your a-wing fighters, complete with a technician crew. This LEGO A-wing fighter strangely enough comes in black, which I cannot seem to remember from the movies.
How long does this Mon Calamari LEGO set measure?
The command center and hangar come In at 17 inches in length and 9 inches in height, making it a fairly wide set. Of course, I prefer the LEGO ultimate collectors set styling in these types of capital ships, and this is more of an action playset if you want to replay important scenes from the Star Wars movies.
Some pros of this Star Wars LEGO set is that it is really fun to play with, has great Mon Calamari minifigures, and is sturdy to play with. It is really a fun build.
Of course, some people argue that this LEGO Star Cruiser is overpriced for the piece count and maybe they are right. To be honest with you, I think that this Home One Star Wars LEGO set would have a more appropriate price of $90 at most. Perhaps will four more minifigures or so such as including LEGO Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and a few other minifigs would have justified the increased price.
So what is the bottom line?
If you are a Star Wars LEGO set collector, then you simply have to purchase the Home One LEGO Star Cruiser, for the rare minifigures alone and the A-wing fighter. It is doubtful that the LEGO company will release this type of set again, so it is a good idea to get it while you still can, before it becomes discontinue.
